Has the 4th Commandment been modified?

Has the 4th Commandment been modified?

The short and simple answer to that question is: by man it has been, by God it has not been. Before you assume anything by what I just wrote, let me explain.

Who obeys the 4th commandment? Do you? Do the members of your church? If not, why? If you say yes, you do. Did you know that the Sabbath is on the 7th day of the week and not the first? And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done [Genesis 2:2]. You who say you obey this commandment and then say you do so by keeping Sunday holy are the ones who are modifying the commandment. Many people want to know who 1st began modifying the commandment. The truth is, no matter who originally changed it, those who are changing it today ought to turn from doing so.

God has never changed the Sabbath commandment. Y’shua (Jesus) Messiah said that none of God’s laws would change (Matt. 5:17-19). So who are we to say that one or several of them have? We are doing what the Pharisees were doing. This is why Y’shua said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men [Mark 7:6-8]. Keeping Sunday holy, rather than Saturday is a commandment of man. Let us turn from this.

For those who want to know who may have changed it originally, Teshuva Ministries have a short and simple article explaining this found here:

Also, 119 Ministries does a phenomenal job explaining this in their video teaching entitled: The Sabbath Day found here:

God’s word is light (even the 4th commandment, given from God himself). Allow it to shine in this dark world we are living in, by obeying it as our example Y’shua, who is the light, obeyed it. Shalom.
